SummerFest 2012

Watch the overview video of the inaugural season of SummerFest

The inaugural season of Opera Theater's SummerFest took place from 29 June to 15 July, 2012, at the Hillman Center for Performing Arts at Shady Side Academy's beautiful Fox Chapel campus. SummerFest 2012 presented four mainstage productions: Mozart's The Magic Flute, Bernstein's Candide, a flamenco-inspired version of Bizet's classic called Carmen–The Gypsy, and Night Caps, a series of six newly-commissioned comic mini-operas.

Mozart Camp provided an opportunity for adults of all ages to explore the music of this beloved composer, as well as Mozart in Concert, a chamber music series featuring rarely-performed works by Mozart.

The Fringe Festival offered free-family-friendly performances by some of Pittsburgh's best cultural organizations on the great lawn in front of the Hillman Center, while a series of master classes provided our young artists with coaching sessions with international opera greats.
