Opera Theater of Pittsburgh welcomed revelers to A Great Gatsby Affair!—our gala fundraiser on Saturday 16 April 2016 at the Pittsburgh Golf Club, Schenley Park, Squirrel Hill.
This year’s Roaring 20s-themed party featured dinner and dancing to Harlem-stride pianist Tom Roberts and The Allegheny City Ragtime Orchestra, songs of the 1920s and a preview of Opera Theater’s SummerFest repertoire. Incredible Silent and Live Auction items, a raffle, plus a Costume Parade and Award Contest for all guests who came dressed in attire from the Gatsby era!
The evening included:
- Silent and live auctions, with host Jim Roddey
- Costume parade and awards
- The return of young operatic sensation Ava Maha

Great Gatsby Gala
At 6:30 pm the party really got started with a gourmet seated dinner and performances by Opera Theater young artists.
Gatsby Gate Crashers
Gate Crashers joined us at 8:15 for dancing to period music by Tom Roberts and the Allegheny City Ragtime Orchestra, along with popular songs from the 1920s. Everyone enjoyed dessert and libations all evening.

A career is not created by talent alone! Mine was launched by a combination of many things, but none more important than the financial support, love and encouragement of the community around me. It is such a privilege for me to be able to give back now, and to be a part of that special community that cares for the future of our young rising opera stars!
As Jay Gatsby would say: "Be there, Old Sport!"
