The third annual Mildred Miller International Voice Competition was held on November 2–3, 2013 in Pittsburgh, in a search for America's best singers. Young professionals aged 18–35 were eligible to compete for cash prizes and solo roles in SummerFest 2014. Winners from previous years, including Andrey Nemzer, Juan José de León, and Shannon Kessler Dooley, are appearing this season in roles with the Metropolitan Opera.
The event was hosted by Anna Singer, with an esteemed panel of judges, including Mildred Miller Posvar, Robert Chafin, Marianne Cornetti, Robert Croan, Kevin Glavin, Eugene Perry, and Maria Spacagna. Soprano Jennifer Cherest, third-place winner of the 2012 Mildred Miller International Voice Competition, returned to provide entertainment while the judges were deliberating.The Mildred Miller International Voice Competition is part of OPERA America's National Opera Week.
Three prizes were awarded:
